GIPSY -- Claude R. Meador, 83, of Gipsy died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at the Advance Nursing Center.
He was born Feb. 27, 1917, at Hiram, son of George and Jenny Hood Meador. He and Ruth Schanks were married Dec. 7, 1939, at Greenville.
Meador was a retired sawmill operator and had been a merchant in Gipsy for 39 years. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley General Baptist Church and a member of the Zalma Masonic Lodge. He served with the U. S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a son, Roger Meador of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Phyllis Porter and Peggy Talley of Gipsy and Sherry Acord of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters and a grandson.
Friends may call from 4:30-8 p.m. today at the Morgan Funeral Chapel at Advance. Masonic services will be at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Berrong General Baptist Church at Gipsy, with the Revs. Frank Shanks, Eldo Eaker and Bob Porter officiating. Burial will be in Berrong Cemetery at Gipsy.
