JONESBORO, Ill. -- Claude Mosby, 78, of Jonesboro died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at Union County Hospital. He was born Jan. 8, 1922, at McClure, Ill., son of Irvin and Eva Chism Mosby. He and Betty Spurlock were married in 1979 at Wolf Lake. He was employed at the Trojan Powder Plant. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 Anna VFW. JONESBORO, Ill. -- Claude Mosby, 78, of Jonesboro died Monday, Sept. 11, 2000, at Union County Hospital.

He was born Jan. 8, 1922, at McClure, Ill., son of Irvin and Eva Chism Mosby. He and Betty Spurlock were married in 1979 at Wolf Lake.

He was employed at the Trojan Powder Plant. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 Anna VFW. He attended the Pentecostal church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons Dale Mosby of McClure, Clark Mosby of Melbourne, Ark., and Dean Mosby of Thebes, Ill.; two stepsons, Gary and Richard Knight, both of Jonesboro; a stepdaughter, Rhonda Knight of Carbondale, Ill.; a brother, Richard Mosby of McClure; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; eight stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son and a sister.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Hileman and Parr Funeral Services in Jonesboro.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Carl Land officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes, Ill. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Carroll P. Foster Post 3455 Anna VFW.
