CHARLESTON -- Claude Ernest "C.E." Thompson Jr., 81, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Charleston, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 1990, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 5, 1909, in Charleston to the late Claude E. and Nannie Finley Thompson.
He had lived in Charleston most of his life and was a prominent landowner and farmer and a member of the United Methodist Church of Charleston.
On Sept. 5, 1931, he married Audrey Virginia Browning. She proceeded him in death on May 27, 1985.
He was also proceeded in death by one son, one brother and one sister.
Surviving are one son, Jack Thompson of Bedford, Texas; two daughters, Virginia Wright of Augusta, Ark. and Mary Lou Rutherford of Millersville; 10 grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the McMikle Funeral Chapel at Charleston with the Rev. Richard Combs, pastor of the United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will follow in the IOOS Cemetery.
