PERRYVILLE -- Clarence F. "Dutch" Bergman, 88, of Dayton, Ohio, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 1994.
Originally from Perryville, he attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. He was captain of the football team in 1932, and made the first touchdown in Houck Stadium.
Bergman taught and coached in this area, and was a pitcher for the Brooklyn Dodgers Farm organization several years. He retired from the Inland Division of General Motors. He was a member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
He married Alita Lauer, who died in December 1993.
Survivors include three nieces, Mary Anderson of Toledo, Ohio, Linda Vincent of Honolulu, Hawaii, Janice Lauer of Dallas, Texas, and a nephew, Robert Lauer of St. Louis.
Funeral service was held Dec. 6 at Tobias Funeral Home Far Hills Chapel, with Pastor Ronald Mueller officiating. Entombment was in Miami Valley Memory Garden Mausoleum.
