Clarence R. Dittmer, 86, of Jackson passed away Friday, Jan. 29, 2021, at his home.
He was born March 11, 1934, in Lacona, Iowa, son of Edward and Mary G. Shaffer Dittmer. He and Delia R. Larson were married Nov. 27, 1954, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Boone, Iowa.
Clarence was a 1952 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Boone.
He worked in the Machinist and Aerospace Workers Union as a station agent with TWA and Ozark Airlines, retiring after 36 years.
Clarence was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.
He was a diehard Cardinals Baseball fan and loved sports.
Loving survivors include his wife of 66 years, Delia of Jackson; five children, Michael Dittmer of Stockton, California, Janet (the late Philip) Hoeland of Wanaque, New Jersey, Dave (Jeanie) Dittmer of Jackson, Jill (Kevin) McGarrah of Seattle and Richard (Angie) Dittmer of Van Buren, Missouri; a brother, Edward (Kay) Dittmer of Lake Lure, North Carolina; grandchildren, Christopher (Natalie) Dittmer, Jeri Lehto, Alyssa Attaway, Whitney (Matt) Fluegge and Madison Dittmer; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, five sisters, a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
A memorial prayer Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson, with Father Randy Tochtrop officiating. Inurnment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials take the form of contributions to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 208 S. Hope St., Suite 102, Jackson, MO 63755 or to American Parkinson Disease Association of Greater St. Louis, APDA Resource Center, 1415 Elbridge Payne Road, Suite 150, Chesterfield, MO 63017.
McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation in Jackson was entrusted with the final arrangements for Clarence.
