Clara M. Halter, 94, 114 S. Benton, died Thursday, May 6, 1993, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Aug. 25, 1898, at Longtown, daughter of Bernard and Mary Tuschoff Meyer. She and Ben J. Halter were married May 27, 1924, at Apple Creek. He died in 1951.
Halter had lived here since 1951, and was a retired operating room technician at St. Francis Hospital. She was a member of Western Catholic Union, St. Mary's Council of Catholic Women, St. Mary's Quilters Club, St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary, and volunteered 17,000 hours at the hospital.
Survivors include four sons, Bernard and Joseph Halter of Cape Girardeau, Hubert Halter of Perryville, Flavian Halter of Poplar Bluff; three daughters, Petronella Lappe and Mary Schwepker of Cape Girardeau, Marcella Kirn of Friedheim; a sister, Sister Leocadia of St. Louis; 25 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, four brothers and a grandchild.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Msgr. Richard Rolwing will officiate, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery at Apple Creek.
Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
