CLARA GAGNEPAIN

PERRYVILLE -- Clara Catherine Gagnepain, 104, of Perryville died Friday, Dec. 19, 1997, at Perry County Nursing Home.

She was born Nov. 24, 1843, at Arnsburg, daughter of George and Catherine Strueve Welker.

She had worked as a shoe inspector at International Shoe Co. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.

She married Zeno Gagnepain in 1923. He died Jan. 11, 1930.

She is survived by a daughter, Delores Conrad of Perryville; two sisters, Jean Schreiner of Jackson and Allie Hager of Taylorville, Ill.; a brother, Leslie Lee Welker of Alton, Ill.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, six brothers and five sisters.

Visitation will be Monday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 6:30 to 10:40 a.m. at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish wake will be at 7 p.m. Monday. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
