CLARA E. LAWRENCE

Clara E. Lawrence, 86, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday May 8, 1993 at the Ramona Villa Nursing Home in Kansas City.

She was born Jan. 30, 1907 in Burfordville, the daughter of Columbus C. and Rosine Schwab Smith. In 1930 she married James F. Lawrence in Arkansas, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1969.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Tipton Laundry in Cape Girardeau for 43 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cape. In 1988 she moved to Kansas City.

Survivors include: three sons, James R. Lawrence of Escondido, Calif., Harry G. Lawrence of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jack V. Lawrence of Kansas City; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers, and three sisters.

There will be no visitation, but a graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Lorimier Cemetery, with Dr. John Owen officiating. Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
