Clara V. Cracraft, 93, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, March 26, 2010, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Jan. 4, 1917, in Jackson to Jesse and Ida Gerecke Quade. She and W. Howard Cracraft were married Jan. 4, 1936, in Benton, Mo. They had one daughter, Saundra, who preceded them in death March 9, 1968, at the age of 21. Howard passed away March 6, 1979.
Clara was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville. She was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. She spent her life in service to others and was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends in need. She was passionate about her family and found great joy in giving to others. She enjoyed making crafts, traveling, was never without her camera and her home was always open to anyone needing a place to stay.
Clara and Howard managed the Cape Girardeau public swimming pool for many years and had a home-based ceramic business. She was employed at Century Electric in St. Louis, Motorola in Phoenix, Davis Electric in Cape Girardeau and Procter & Gamble, retiring from there in 1982.
Loving survivors include three sisters, Patsy (Richard) Morgan of Cape Girardeau, Betty (Lawrence) Brucker of Delta, Ruby Cook of Jackson; two brothers, Clarence Quade of Cape Girardeau and Clyde (Dorothy) Quade of Gordonville; a sister-in-law, Jessie Quade of Potosi, Mo.; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter; brother, Curtis; three sisters, Jessie, Irene and Lorene.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Short officiating. Interment will follow at Cape Girardeau County Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials to St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau are suggested.
