Clara C. Altefogt, 93, of Glen Carbon, Ill., died Sunday, May 20, 2007, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton, Ill.
She was born Feb. 23, 1914, in Madison County, Ill., daughter of Paul and Florence Schlemer Krotz. She and Earl H. Altefogt were married Oct. 17, 1936, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edwardsville, Ill.
Altefogt was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Glen Carbon, Pin Oak Senior Citizens, Glen Carbon Home Extension 50 years, and Girls Friendly Card Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary (Vern) Henley of Alton, Carol (Larry) Simon of Cape Girardeau; a daughter-in-law, Debbie (Stan) Slemer of Muncie, Ind.; four grandchildren, Paul Altefogt of Winter Park, Fla., Zachary Altefogt of Ypsilanti, Mich., Nicholas Simon of Manchester, Mo., and Laura Simon of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tom Altefogt; a sister, Christine Schroeder; infant sister, Annie Krotz; brother, Joseph Krotz; and infant brother, Raymond Krotz.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Irwin Chapel of Glen Carbon. A prayer service will also be held.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecelia Catholic Church, with Monsignor Virgil Mank officiating. Burial will be in Buck Road Cemetery at Maryville, Ill.
