ORAN -- Clara L. Adams, 73, of Route 1, Oran, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born Dec. 25, 1923, at Gagde, Ala., daughter of Ellis and Fannie Harrison Little and had lived in Missouri for more than 50 years.
She married Walter E. Adams Jan. 5, 1938. He preceded her in death Sept. 30, 1956.
She was a member of the New Morning Star Baptist Church in Haywood City, where she served on the Mother Board.
Survivors include a son, Tommy Adams of Chicago; four daughters, Mattie Richardson of Chicago, Helen Godbolt of Waukegan, Ill., and Alice Adams Ray and Alma Adams of Sikeston; a brother, Bert Little of Detroit, Mich.; four sisters, Fanny Lumkins of Detroit, Lucy Little of Mobile, Ala., Lula B. Gayfield of Shuqualak, Miss., and Jeanette Poe of Memphis, Tenn.; 28 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Service will be held at the church at noon with the Rev. Flem E. Bronner Sr. and Elisha Pullen officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
