PERRYVILLE. Mo. -- Cindy K. Ponder, 56, of Perryville passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at her residence. She was born Jan. 22, 1960, in Perryville, the daughter of the late William Boxdorfer Jr. and survived by Opal "Rita" (Cottner) Boxdorfer of Perryville. PERRYVILLE. Mo. -- Cindy K. Ponder, 56, of Perryville passed away Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 22, 1960, in Perryville, the daughter of the late William Boxdorfer Jr. and survived by Opal "Rita" (Cottner) Boxdorfer of Perryville. She and Leroy Ponder were married on Nov. 3, 1979. He survives in Perryville.

She was a receptionist for Dr. Kenneth White at Perry County Veterinary Hospital in Perryville, and she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.

Survivors include two daughters, Laura (Daniel) Schumer of O'Fallon, Missouri, and Jennifer (Tyler) Bauwens of Brewer, Missouri; two sisters and two brothers, Ann (Mike) Christ of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Mae Schumer, Kenny (Linda) Boxdorfer and Mike (Polly) Boxdorfer, all of Perryville; and three grandchildren, Kayleigh, Camden and Kayson.

She was preceded in death by her father; one sister, Betty Kenser; and one brother-in-law, Leroy Schumer.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home. She then will be taken to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville for a funeral service at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Thomas Handrick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the Cancer Institute.
