Christopher "Chris" Wayne Brennecke, 54, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at home.
He was born Oct. 5, 1968, in Yuba City, California, to Lindell M. Brennecke and Jo Brennecke Duff.
Chris was a 1987 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School.
Survivors include his mother, Jo (Ron) Duff; children, Macie (Blake) Mayfield, Cody and Cori Brennecke; sister, Nicole (Greg) Harp; brother, Mark Moore; grandchildren, Kaydon, Mya, Kole and Ty; aunts, Debra Lee Brennecke and Stacey Mayberry; uncles, Kent and Keith Brennecke; special friend, Angie Christian; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lindell Brennecke; uncle, Johnny Ray Brennecke; and aunt, Beverly Ann Baker.
Chris had a smile that could light up a room. He was an artist with a love for drawing. He was a free spirit with a deep love and appreciation for music, especially classic rock. Chris truly appreciated a song for what it was worth, and shared his love of music with his children.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan who loved being outdoors. Being near or on the water was a relaxation and release for him. He loved Daytona Beach, Florida, where he spent several summers with his family. To his kids he was Superman; he lived for them and cherished them above all else.
Chris is now at peace, leaving all of us with cherished memories in our hearts, where he will live forever. When you hear a good song that sets your soul free, we hope you think of him.
A celebration of life will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. There will be food, music and good company.
The family humbly requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a memorial fund for his children, Cody and Cori. The fund has been established at First State Community Bank. Checks may be made payable to "Benefit of Cori and Cody Brennecke." Envelopes will also be provided at the celebration of life.
