Christine Schabbing

Christine J. "Dena" Schabbing, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, July 18, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 28, 1912, daughter of John W. and Josephine Kirchdoerfer Brucker. She and Joseph B. Schabbing Jr. were married Aug. 25, 1936, at Cape Girardeau. He died Aug. 30, 1994.

Schabbing was formerly employed at International Shoe Factory. She was a former member of SEMO District Fair board. Schabbing was a member of St. Mary Cathedral and its Cathedral Ladies Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce A. Johnson of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Marie K. Mabrey of Cape Girardeau and Allene E. Glueck of Chaffee, Mo.. and two granddaughters, Jeana L. Stanhope and Jill R. Neumeyer, both of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie V. Brucker, and two sisters, Stella P. Glueck and Amelia E. "Millie" Slinkard.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., rosary at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Cathedral, with the Rev. Scott Sunnenberg officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Pallbearers will be J.C. Brucker, Kevin Brucker, Dave Loop, Bill Mabrey, Shawn Neumeyer and Doug Stanhope.
