JONESBORO, Ill. -- Funeral service for Chester Nix of Jonesboro Route 1 will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Norris and Son Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jimmy Wilson will officiate, with burial in St. John's Cemetery near Dongola. Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna will conduct graveside rites.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
Nix, 82 years old, died Sunday, March 3, 1991, at the VA Medical Center in Marion.
He was born Jan. 12, 1909, in Floral, Ky., son of William and Dora Sanders Nix. He and the former Grace Courtright were married May 3, 1930.
Nix was a retired carpenter, construction worker and railroad worker. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church and VFW Post at Anna. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Dora Motter of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Pearl Grooms of Nashville, Tenn.; a son, Ernest Nix of Jonesboro, Ga.; four sisters, Tealie Courtright of Moncks Corner, S.C., Virgie Spurlock of Jonesboro, Pauline Adkins of Illinois, Helen of Hallsville, Ky.; two brothers, Ivory Nix of Louis Port, Ind., Wavie Nix of Houlton, Maine; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
