JACKSON -- Chester Gerecke, 69, of Jackson, died Tuesday, March 14, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Dec. 28, 1925, at Gordonville, son of Albert and Frieda Graden Gerecke. He married Dorothy Borgfield Oct. 7, 1948.
Gerecke farmed in the Gordonville area several years. He owned Mac's Restaurant from 1961-65, and established Wayside Inn and operated it from 1966-93.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Elks, and former member of Jackson Optimist Club.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronnie Gerecke of Jackson; three daughters, Cherry King, Sheila Venable and Lisa Licare of Jackson; a brother, Leeman Gerecke of Gordonville; three sisters; Elouise Siebert and Evelyn Peetz of Jackson, Shirley Campbell of Knoxville, Tenn; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and a son.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrich officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
