ORAN, Mo. -- Chester Raymond Carr, 96, of Oran passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 6, 1918, in Blair, Missouri, to Arch O. and Carla E. Sites Carr. He married Irene Elizabeth Wagoner on Sept. 21, 1945. She preceded him in death Nov. 6, 2009.
Chester served in the United States Army during World War II as a sergeant tank commander.
He was an operator at Texas Eastern Pipeline in Oran, and a member of First Baptist Church in Oran.
Survivors include a son, Ronald (Donna Raye) Carr of Oran; a daughter, Donna Jean (Dennis) Albee of Oran; a granddaughter, Teresa May (Chad) Clevenger; and a great-grandson, Clay David Clevenger, all of Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Brian Gill officiating. Burial will be in Friend Cemetery at Oran, with full military honors presented by Missouri Honor Guard.
