MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Chester Malcolm Beck, 85, of Mound City died Monday, April 20, 1998, at Heritage Gardens Nursing Home in Jackson, Mo.
He was born Oct. 21, 1912, in Livermore, Calif., son of Chester and Charlotte Cavil Beck. He and Jeanette Dorsett Beck were married June 30, 1951. She died Jan. 10, 1977.
Beck received a bachelor's degree from the University of California-Berkeley, and master's degree in chemistry and physics from the University of Wyoming-Laramie.
He was a teacher in the Mound City and Meridian school districts many years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Mound City Civic and Historical Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Beck of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Mound City after 5 p.m. Saturday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Herring officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
