Cheryl Lynn Kinder, 58, lost her long battle with autoimmune disease Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born to William Eli Jr. and Jannette Pogue on June 28, 1964, in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She and David Kinder were married Oct. 10, 1987.
Cheryl was a 1982 graduate of Puxico (Missouri) High School, where she acquired the nickname "Peryl", a 1984 graduate of Three Rivers Community College of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and a 1986 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. She was active in sports, but loved cheerleading and was a member of the cheerleading squads at all three schools.
After graduation, she worked at First Federal Savings and Loan, and then she established and operated Kinder Appraisal Co. Additionally, she was instrumental in founding the family business — First Auto Credit in Jackson.
Cheryl was a member of First Christian Church in Puxico and, after marriage, worshiped with the Kinder family at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
She loved many things, including her favorite son, Jared Eli. She spent many miles driving and many hours cheering to support him at his soccer games.
Entertaining gave her great joy, and she utilized her remarkable culinary skills to prepare many great meals that were generously shared with friends and family. Cheryl's other hobbies included collecting shells, camping, fishing and walking the beach, especially on Sanibel Island in Florida. She was very social and frequented the Pilot House or American Legion Hall on Sanibel, where on any given evening she could be found surrounded by friends while she enjoyed a Salem Slim and a Crown and Seven for happy hour.
Survivors include her husband, David Kinder of Cape Girardeau, and son, Jared Eli Kinder of Jackson. Other survivors include her brother, Gary (Janet) Pogue of Jackson; father-in-law, Elroy Kinder of Cape Girardeau; brother-in-law, John Kinder; and sisters-in-law, Jill (Chris) Haman and Kathy Kinder, all of Jackson; plus her nephew, Clint Pogue of California; and her furry friend, Lily.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and her mother-in-law, Mary Susan Kinder.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 17357 Stars and Stripes Way, Bloomfield, MO 63825-8487 — www.mvc.dps.mo.gov/cemeteries/bloomfield.php.
