Cheri Lynn McSwain, 75, of Scott City died Monday, June 3, 2024, at Country Place in Scott City after a six-year battle with cancer.
She was born June 24, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to Glenn and Bertha Marie Dohogne McKee. She married David McSwain on Jan. 1, 2002, and he preceded her in death.
She was a 1966 graduate of Illmo-Scott City High School and a Southeast Missouri State University graduate with degrees in art and literature. She was a teacher/professor of Art and Literature at Ozarka College in Mountain View, Arkansas. She was a member of Eisleben Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Pairs and Spares and a world traveler. Cheri was raised with her Granny, Anna Dohogne.
She is survived by her daughter, Mollie (Peter Stivers) Blain of Mountain Home, Arkansas; granddaughter, Emily Jo Penland, and Emily’s dad, Joe Penland, of Mountain Home; numerous cousins and friends; and her fur baby, Louie the cat.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Cemetery in New Hamburg, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eisleben Lutheran Church.
