JACKSON -- Funeral for Charlotte V. Schwab of Vandalia will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at St. John Lutheran Church in Vandalia. The Rev. Harry Hager will officiate. Burial will be in Jackson City Cemetery.
Waters Funeral Home in Vandalia is in charge of arrangements.
Schwab, 76, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Mo.
She was born Sept. 12, 1922, at Jackson, daughter of Walter Arthur and Gertrude A. Kerstner Kasten. She and Leon B. Schwab were married May 21, 1944, at Jackson.
Schwab was a 1942 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, and received a master's degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
She moved to Vandalia in 1944 from Jackson. She was an English and music teacher at Vandalia High School and Van-Far High School from 1956 until retiring in 1982. She was a Student Council sponsor 22 years.
Schwab was a member of St. John Church and its Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Retired Teachers Association, and PEO.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Walter Schwab of Valley, Neb.; two daughters, Virginia Boyer of Naperville, Ill., Kathryn Boyer of Kernersville, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
