MOUNDS, Ill. -- Charlie M. Burton, 64, of Mounds, Ill., formerly of Tamms, Ill., died Wednesday, May 4, 1994, at the Union County Hospital in Anna, Ill.
He was born Aug. 29, 1929, at Jonesboro, Ill., daughter of William and Ellen Knupp Burton.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army.
Burton was a grounds keeper at the Egyptian Country Club. He was formerly employed by Crain Enterprises in Mound City and the Hudson Grain Company.
He attended the Jehovah Witness Congregation in Cairo.
Survivors include his mother; a son, Dan Burton of Jackson; four sisters; and eight brothers.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl Clark officiating.
Burial will follow in the U.S. National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill.
