ADVANCE -- Funeral service for Charley "Merrill" Tippett of Buckeye, Ariz., was held April 24 at First Southern Baptist Church in Buckeye. The Rev. Tom Wiles officiated, with burial in Louis B. Hazelton Memorial Park near Buckeye.
Tippett, 81, died Tuesday, April 21, 1992, at Sun Royal West Care Center in Avondale, Ariz.
He was born Nov. 4, 1910, near Advance, son of William Sherman and Elsa Sims Tippett. He farmed in Southern Illinois many years, moving to Arizona in 1974.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Dale Tippett of Okawville, Ill.; three daughters, Wilma Kraatz of Olmsted, Ill., Janice Steincamp of Fresno, Calif., Velda Pyle of Greenville, S.C.; four brothers, Troy Tippett of Marble Hill, Leon Tippett of Twin Falls, Idaho, Wright Tippett of Advance, William Tippett of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Rita Reynolds of Virginia Beach, Va.; nine grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
