FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. -- Charles L. Williams, 68, of Fairview Heights, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at Saint Louis University Hospital.
He was born Sept. 22, 1949, in Tunica, Mississippi, to Osie and Cornelius Phifer Williams.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in East St. Louis, Illinois. He worked at Bi State Metro Link, St. Louis, for 33 years.
Survivors include his eight sisters, Eddie Whitaker, Carolyn Williams, Cornelia Williams and Susan B. Williams, all of Cape Girardeau, Hattie B. Baker of St. Louis, Mary K. Williams of Ferguson, Missouri, Viola Garner of Fairview Heights and Marilyn Williams of Champaign, Illinois; five brothers, Frank Williams, Robert Williams, David Williams, Lee Williams and Osie Williams, all of Cape Girardeau; and his significant other of 25 years, Emma McComb.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James "Peto" Williams.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ervin Williams officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
