SCOTT CITY -- Funeral for Charles R. Rubel of Bay View Gardens, Ill., was held Wednesday at Mason Funeral Home in Metamora, Ill. The Rev. Mark Boster officiated. Burial was in Spring Bay Cemetery.

Rubel, 68, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria, Ill.
He was born May 21, 1931, at Illmo, son of Albert and Caroline Ruebel Rubel. He and Velva Greer Ballard were married Sept. 27, 1951. He later married Bethann Templeton March 21, 1970, in Hanna City, Ill.
Rubel worked in the gas department at CILCO 41 years, retiring in 1993. He also farmed. He was a member of Spring Bay Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Rick Rubel of Hanna City, Jeff, Timothy and Charles Rubel of Spring Bay, Kenneth Rubel of Pocahontas, Ark.; four daughters, Deborah Matheny and Kimberly Thurston of Bay View Gardens, Pamela Lotz and Julie Sheets of Metamora; a sister, Marie Mirguax of Scott City; 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 11 sisters, two brothers, and a granddaughter.
