THEBES, Ill. -- Charles R. Benefield, 64, of Thebes, died Monday, May 27, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 9, 1926, in McClure, son of Clarence and Bertha Phillips Benefield. He and the former Ollie Brown were married Aug. 12, 1954.
Benefield was a foreman at Riverside Lumber Co. 32 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of McClure VFW Post, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Greg Benefield of Tucson, Ariz., Mark Benefield of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Cathy Dishinger of Wolf Lake, Jill Hanneken and Terri Enke of McClure; four brothers, Lawrence, Earl and Paul Benefield of McClure, Bill Benefield of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Louise Matlock of Gale, Virginia Schearf and Alice Bahner of Cape Girardeau, Clara Tucker of McClure, and seven grandchildren.
Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure. The Rev. Glenn Hamilton will officiate, with military rites by McClure VFW Post.
Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel after 4 p.m. today.
