JACKSON -- Charles N. Nance, 53, of Jackson, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1993, at his home.
He was born Oct. 23, 1940, at Delta, son of Norman and Nevada Driskell Nance. He and Jean Ann Martin were married Nov. 15, 1962, in San Francisco, Calif.
Nance served 23 years in the U.S. Army, retiring in Anchorage, Alaska. He worked at St. Francis Medical Center six months, and had been supervisor of dietary care at Missouri Veterans Home since 1990.
He was a member of the Cook's Association in Anchorage, and had won two gold and three bronze medals in a nationwide cooking competition at Ft. Lee, Va.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Kim Nance of Pea Ridge, Ark.; a daughter, Lori Swaw of Cumberland Furnace, Tenn.; a sister, Martha Clark of Houston, Texas, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, a grandson and brother.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Steven MacDougall will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-9 p.m. today.
