Charles Morrill

Charles Edgar Morrill, 73, of Scott City died Thursday, May 27, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

He was born July 8, 1930, at Illmo, son of Gilbert Hillemann and Clara Mae Hosea Morrill. He and Myrime Louise Petitt were married June 2, 1951, at Illmo.

Mr. Morrill was a general construction manager with Drury Development Corp., and was chairman of the board of Morrill Development Corp. the last 20 years.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and served as a tank commander during the Korean War.

Mr. Morrill was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, VFW Post 6407 and charter member of St. Joseph Knights of Columbus Council 6420 and a member of its Fourth Degree Assembly 2283, all in Scott City.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, C.J. Morrill of Jackson, Alan Morrill of Scott City; three daughters, Josie Camp of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Paula Yount of Bartlett, Tenn., Teresa Morrill of Scott City; a brother, Harlan Morrill of Jackson; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Tanner Joseph Morrill and Angela Hope Morrill.

Friends may call at St. Joseph Catholic Church from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7 and Knights of Columbus service at 7:15.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. James Seyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3838.
