PADUCAH, Ky. -- Charles C. Manker, 59, of Paducah and formerly of Cairo, Ill., died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, at Lourdes Hospital at Paducah.
He was born Sept. 8, 1940, at Charleston, Mo., son of Charles and Florence Nolen Manker.
He was a correctional officer at the Kentucky State Prison at Eddyville before his retirement. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Manker was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Mound City and a member of the Cairo Jaycees and Cairo VFW.
Survivors include four daughters, Jacqulyn Farris of Cairo, Roxanne Wilkins, Sherry Moryl and Vickie Pearman, all of Paducah; two sons, Charles W. Manker of Bluffton, S.C., and Michael J. Manker of Gambrills, Md.; a sister, Sue VanMeter of Hardeeville, S.C.; two brothers, Jim Manker and John Manker, both of Cairo; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home at Cairo. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Mound City. The Rev. Bill McGhee will officiate, with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
