CHARLES LINDY JR.

CHAFFEE -- Charles J. Lindy Jr., 73, of St. Louis, formerly of Chaffee, died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Hayti, son of Charles Jacob and Ruby Lindy. He and Jeweldine Bess were married June 6, 1948, at Chaffee.

Lindy had worked at Sports Specialty Shoes in Chaffee, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in St. Louis. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Judy Janis of Webster Groves; a son, Charles Lindy III of Illinois; four brothers, Leslie Lindy of Cape Girardeau, Fred Lindy of Imperial, Pa., Daniel Lindy of Chaffee, Larry Lindy of Saraland, Ala.; and three grandchildren.

Burial was Friday at National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Gerber Funeral Home in Webster Groves was in charge of arrangements.
