ADVANCE, Mo. -- Charles W. L. Green, 80, of Advance passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Woodland Hills Nursing Home in Marble Hill, Missouri.
He was born March 26, 1936, in Port Angeles, Washington, son of Charles Lloyd and Emily Bertha Winey Green.
He and Patsy Winder were united in marriage March 30, 1957, and she passed away Feb. 26, 2014.
Charles joined the National Guard for 13 months and joined the United States Air Force on a delayed-entry program when his physical revealed he had a calcium deposit in his lungs.
He enjoyed driving and building stock cars during the 1950s and 1960s.
He worked for McDonnell Douglas as a riveter in St. Louis and worked for Milford Bollinger in farming and logging. He was night supervisor at Kasten Masonry. For over 20 years, he was an over-the-road truck driver for Gilster Mary-Lee, and for 18 years, he was a team over-the-road truck driver with his brother John.
Survivors include his sons Robert Green of Advance and Ronald James Green of Sikeston, Missouri, and brother John (Patricia) Green of Glenallen, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy, and parents.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, with Pastor Janet Hopkins officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.
