MOUNDS, Ill. -- Charles Edward Mason, 78, of Cache, formerly of Mounds, died Friday, July 26, 1991, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 29, 1913, in Louisville, Ky., son of Jesse and Bessie Neal Mason.

He was a retired deck hand for the American Barge Line, and a veteran of World War II.

He is survived by a sister, Mary Ellis of Paducah, Ky.; two nephews, Arthur Ellis Jr. of Grand Chain, Hobert Ellis of Pekin; three nieces, Marcella Hysell of Danville, Mary Hack of St. Louis, and Debra Winzell of Paducah.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Chapel in Tamms. The Rev. Gene Hart will officiate, with burial in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 8 a.m. until time of service.
