COBDEN, Ill. -- Charles Edward Duryea, 75, of Cobden died Friday, Aug. 23, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born July 16, 1921, at East St. Louis, son of Charles and Lula Fletcher Duryea.

He married Mary Lou Lence on Sept. 13, 1949, at Piggott, Ark. She survives.

Duryea was a member of the Cobden Masonic Lodge 446 AF & AM and was a retired transport operator for Consolidated Freight Co.

Other survivors included two sons, James Duryea of Cobden and Greg Duryea of Greenville, Mich.; two daughters, Mary Alice Brandt of Lafayette, Ind., and Sandra Duryea of Waco, Texas; a sister, Ruth Hook of McLeansboro; and 10 grandchildren.

Service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden, with the Rev. Federico Higuera officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Cobden.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Monday, with a masonic service at 8.
