Charles Ernest Davis, a native son of Cape Girardeau, went to be with his Lord on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015. He had been living at the Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
He fought a long fight from a major stroke and surprised everyone with his will to live.
He was born in Millersville to Charles and Virgie Davis. He was the youngest and last remaining of six brothers and two sisters.
Charles was a sensitive and kind-hearted man, who stayed close to home caring for his parents and older aunts.
He shared the love of music with his family as he played the piano and accordion by ear. It was quite the family band.
From a young age until he was unable to do so, Charles spent many hours riding his bicycle on the streets of Cape Girardeau. He was well known and loved by the merchants, beat policemen and all those he passed.
He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews, and also by his longtime friend, Jackie Brooks.
