Charles Basil Cox, 64, of Jackson died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, at the home of his mother-in-law in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 11, 1954, in Cape Girardeau to Charles Bernard and Wanda Gross Cox. He and Gina Seabaugh were married May 28, 2004, at Cape Girardeau.
He was a graduate of Cape Central High School in 1972.
He served in the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Korea from 1976 to 1980.
He was working at Chartwells Foodservice until the time of his illness. He loved hunting, fishing and playing baseball with his son and grandsons. He was an avid Cardinal baseball fan. He fought a courageous battle of 16 months with lymphoma cancer.
He was a member of Arbor Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Gina Cox of Jackson; mother, Wanda Cox of Jackson; one daughter, Torie (Robert Jr.) Eskew of Jackson; one son, Brennen Cox of Jackson; two sisters, Vickie (Terry) Burke of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and Bobbi Barber of St. Louis; and two grandchildren, Grant Eskew and Grady Eskew.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Bernard Cox, and one sister, Brenda Myers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society.
