Charles Bernard Cox, 85, of Whitewater passed away Dec. 24, 2016, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Feb. 6, 1931, at Arbor, Missouri, the son of Lloyd and Myrtle Kidd Cox. Charles was a 60-year member of the Local 513 Operating Engineers. He was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA). Charles Bernard Cox, 85, of Whitewater passed away Dec. 24, 2016, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Feb. 6, 1931, at Arbor, Missouri, the son of Lloyd and Myrtle Kidd Cox.

Charles was a 60-year member of the Local 513 Operating Engineers. He was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and the National Cutting Horse Association (NCHA). He was also a member of Arbor Baptist Church in Arbor.

Charles and Wanda Gross were united in marriage Aug. 30, 1947, at Benton, Missouri, and she survives of the home. Charles and Wanda would have been married 70 years Aug. 30, 2017.

Loving survivors include his wife, Wanda Cox of the home; a son, Basil (Gina) Cox of Jackson; two daughters, Bobbie Jo Barber of St. Louis and Vickie (Terry) Burke of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; a brother, Glen Cox of Chaffee, Missouri; a sister, Gladys Cox of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Brenda Myers; two brothers, Lanson and Raymond Cox; and two sisters, Helen Musgraves and Pauline Bollinger.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, Missouri.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Justin Cook officiating.

Burial will follow at Whitewater Cemetery in Whitewater.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Arbor Baptist Church.
