SIKESTON, Mo. -- Charles Floyd Collom Sr., age 74, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 8, 1935, in Etowah, Ark., son of the late Jerry Gilbert and Sophia Lee Odis Kirk Collom.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Earle, Ark., and had worked in the grocery business for most of his life and later in the construction trade, and had co-owned C&K Lumber.

On Oct. 4, 1953, he married Bobbie Jean (Sims) Collom; she survives of the home in Sikeston.

Other survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert Gilbert and Christina Collom of Yuma, Ariz., Charles Collom Jr. of Beihle, Mo., and Glenn and Ellie Collom of Benton, Mo.; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Paul St. Onge of South Fulton, Tenn.; one sister, Lucille Collom of Arkansas; six grandchildren, Kristie (Dusty) Freeman of Herculaneum, Mo., Amber Hill of Hendersonville, Tenn., Charles Floyd (Ashley) Collom III, senior airman stationed in Albuquerque, N. M., Benjamin St. Onge of South Fulton, Victoria Collom and Levi Collom both of Benton; and one great-grandson, Nole Freeman of Herculaneum.

Charles was preceded in death by one brother, Orin Collom; and two sisters, Peggy Sutherland and Jane Burks.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery near Morley, Mo.
