Charles Clemons Jr., 84, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Forrest City, Ark., son of Charles and Lillie Eston Clemons. He and Marie Graham Clemons were married in Arkansas in 1952. She died Sept. 17, 1991...

Charles Clemons Jr., 84, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Forrest City, Ark., son of Charles and Lillie Eston Clemons. He and Marie Graham Clemons were married in Arkansas in 1952. She died Sept. 17, 1991.

Clemons served in the Army during World War II.

He worked in maintenance at Limbaugh, Limbaugh & Russell for 20 years and at Cape Municipal Airport 15 years. He had also been a chef at Blue Hole BBQ.

He was a member of St. James AME Church.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Clemons of Elgin, Ill., Phillip Clemons of Cape Girardeau, Charles Clemons of Philadelphia; a daughter, Rita Jones of Cape Girardeau; two stepdaughters, Diane Wright of Bloomington-Normal, Ill., Nancy A. Hill of Hazel Crest, Ill.; a brother, Paul Clemons of St. Louis; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday at St. James AME Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with the Rev. Debbie Thornton officiating.

Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
