Charles Kenneth Brockett, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born June 9, 1921, in Oran, Missouri, to Thomas Martin and Nona Hughes Brockett. He and Frances Painton were married Oct. 12, 1946.
Kenneth was a graduate of Oran High School and the University of California, Berkeley. He earned a master of business administration from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
He served as an officer in the U.S. Army for 22 years, retiring in 1966 with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He then worked for several years as an executive in the housing industry in the Washington, D.C., area. After his second retirement, he and his wife returned to Southeast Missouri to be with family and friends.
In retirement, Kenneth became an avid golfer. Starting as a novice, he soon mastered the game. He was a member of the Cape Girardeau Country Club, where he enjoyed many hours playing golf.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; his brother, Gene; and his two daughters, Sue Brockett (Brian Rogers) and Ann Brockett (Buck Richmond). Kenneth was loved by four grandchildren, Ben (Lindsay), Alex (Jennifer), Briana (Tom) and Colin (Jessica). He was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Parker, Nina and Rita. He also is survived by nieces Lesa Bubbolini, Gina Phillips and Jane Painton and nephew Ted Painton. He was predeceased by his nephew, Tom Brockett.
Kenneth will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
