Charles A. "Chick" Beljik, 96, of Jackson, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on March 6, 1908, in St. Louis, Mo., son of Joseph and Caroline Beljik.

He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific.

He was a self-employed interior designer in St. Louis. He then moved to Jackson in 1970 and was a golf pro at Kimbeland Country Club in Jackson before retiring in 1992. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson and a life member of Meramec River VFW Post 2177 in Fenton, Mo.

Survivors include close friends, Cyril and Opal Scherer of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Msgr. Edward Eftink officiating.

Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson with full military rites.
