MESSLER, Mo. -- Charles Fred Arnold, 69, of Messler passed away Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at his home after his battle with lung and bone cancer.

He was born Oct. 24, 1947, in Perkins, Missouri, to the late A. Paul and Annabelle Head Arnold. He married Linda Eftink on Oct. 25, 1969, and she survives of the home.

Fred was a retired farm hand and a retired truck driver for Genesis Trucking in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, Missouri, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Cape Girardeau.

He was a Master Mason for two years with Lakeville AF&AM Masonic Lodge 489 in Bell City, Missouri, then transferring to Chaffee (Missouri) AF&AM Masonic Lodge 615.

Fred served in the U.S. Army from January 1966 to January 1969 and was a Vietnam veteran, receiving an honorable discharge and a Purple Heart for his service.

He is survived by two sons, Michael (Kathy) Arnold of Randles and Dereck (Rhonda) Arnold of Chaffee; a daughter, Lisa (Bobby) Tuttleton of Chaffee; a brother, Robert Arnold of Bell City; a sister, Patricia Lancaster of Catawissa, Missouri; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Arnold Jr. and Francis Arnold; a sister, Phyllis Wethington; a niece; and a nephew.

There will be no services at this time.
