Charles Daniel "Dutch" Adams, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at his home.

He was born June 2, 1923, in Grand Tower, Ill., son of Arthur and Bonnie Pearl Henson Adams. He and Wilmoth Rhodes Adams were married March 11, 1947, in Grand Tower.

Adams served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, being discharged as a first lieutenant.

He retired from Ameren CIPS as superintendent of the Grand Tower station after 30 years with the company. He was a 50-year member of the Masons, member of the Elks and Eagles in Sikeston, Mo., and past president of Hillsboro, Ill., Rotary Club. He loved fishing in the Mississippi River all his life.

Survivors include his wife, Wilmoth Adams of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Linda Logsdon and husband P. Alan of Frankfort, Ill., Patricia Emerson of Houston; and a grandson, Charles Hayden Emerson of Fort Benning, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Fred, Dean, Russell, Robert, Ottie Glen Adams; two sisters, Lucille Stadleman and Susie Dickson.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to service time Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by a memorial service with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Missouri Honor Guard.

Another memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Tower, with the Rev. Don Grammer officiating.

Memorials may be made to Southeast Hospice or First Presbyterian Church of Grand Tower.
