Charles A. Burns, 64, of Cape Girardeau, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1992, at his home.
He was born Jan. 2, 1928 in St. Louis, son of Harry Burns Sr. and Sadie B. Burns.
He married Dolores A. LaTurno Aug. 17, 1957 at St. Louis. She survives of the home.
He was first a postal employee at St. Louis. Later he worked with the Internal Revenue Service as a collector, both in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau. He retired in 1990. He also lived for a while in Texas.
He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II.
He is survived by sons, William J. Burns and John D. Burns, both of Cape Girardeau; daughters, Catherine B. Porter of Denver, Colo., and Patricia A. Beal, Jeanne M. Ghannoam, Mary E. Burns and Susan C. Moyers, all of Cape Girardeau; one brother, Harry Burns Jr. of Houston; a sister, Laura Sue LoGalbo of Spring, Texas; and five grandchildren.
A brother preceded him in death. Friends may call today from 4-8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Sprigg St. Chapel. Parish prayers will be held at 7 p.m.
Funeral mass will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral, with Monsignor Richard Rolwing officiating. Burial will follow in Lorimier Cemetery.
