Charlene Davis

Charlene Elode Davis, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at her home.

She was born Feb. 14, 1923, at Ellsinore, Mo., daughter of Lee and Dena Schaefer Rains. She and Roy Calvin Joiner were married June 9, 1939. He preceded her in death. She and Brent Davis were married Jan. 1, 1948. He died April 8, 1988.

Davis was formerly of Patton, Mo. She was a seamstress for a clothing manufacturer. She was a member of Liberty Congregational Methodist Church at Marquand, Mo.

Survivors include five sons, Dr. Charles Joiner of Jonesboro, Ark., Terry and Ronald Davis of Marble Hill, Mo., John and Richard Davis of Patton; five daughters, June Romine of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Brenda Russell of Marble Hill, Sheila Cates of Buffalo, Mo., Danetta Howard of Fredericktown, Mo., Tamela Davis of Cape Girardeau; 28 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and two granddaughters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Patton.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Jerry Sander and Ron Davis and Dr. Charles Joiner officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Church Cemetery.
