SEDGEWICKVILLE -- Chalmer A. Brickhaus, 74, of Sedgewickville died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at his home.
He was born Aug. 4, 1925, at Longtown, son of William Frederick and Albertina Baudendistel Brickhaus. He first married Betty Jean Huber in 1950. She died in 1957. He and Lolamae L. Rickermann were married June 29, 1963, in Crestwood.
Brickhaus was owner/operator of Brickhaus Fertilizer 16 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He received the Victory Medal, American Area, Asiatic Pacific with one star, and Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, David Brickhaus of St. Charles, Michael Brickhaus of DeSoto, Matthew Brickhaus with the U.S. Navy, William and Thomas Brickhaus of Perryville; five daughters, Debbie Lieberman of Valley Park, Nancy Mattingly of Barnhart, Connie Heberlie and Lola Dauster of Perryville, Kathy Thompson of DeSoto; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers, and a sister.
Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville from 4-9 p.m. today, and Saturday from 6:30-9:50 a.m. The parish wake will be at 5 p.m. today, followed by American Legion service at 7. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent's Church. The Rev. Kevin P. Fausz will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, with graveside rites by the American Legion.
