PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Chalmer D. Blandford, 87, of Perryville died Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 11, 1931, in Highland, Missouri, son of John V. and Lydia Fassold Blandford. He and Norma J. Esselman were married May 26, 1953. She preceded him in death May 14, 2000.
Chalmer had worked for International Shoe Co. and Gilster Mary-Lee. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 133. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include one son, Larry (Julie) Blandford of Perryville; one daughter, Penny (Scott) Williams of Cape Girardeau; special friend, Iva Head; and four grandchildren, Jason Blandford, Holly Blandford, Julia Williams and Nick Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Roger Blandford; one grandson, Matthew Blandford; one granddaughter, Jodie Blandford; four brothers; and five sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 6:30 to 11:15 a.m. Thursday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.
He will then be taken to Immanuel Lutheran Church for services at 1 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Matthew Marks officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, with military graveside honors provided by American Legion Post 133 and Navy Honors.
Memorials preferred to the Special Olympics.
