EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Cecilia LaPlant Adkisson, 79, passed away Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at her home in East Prairie.
Born Jan. 16, 1940, in the Barnes Ridge community of Mississippi County, Missouri, to the late Cecil George and Elsie Jackson LaPlant, she was a homemaker, a Girl Scout leader and member of the Junior Civic Club.
Cecilia took great pride in her flowers and yard, for which she was awarded "Yard of the Month" several times. She also assisted as a farmhand, farm bookkeeper and cotton-gin records keeper. She was the owner of the best farm food catering service in the area. She was a member of First Christian Church in East Prairie.
On July 7, 1957, in Paragould, Arkansas, she married Charles Adkisson, who preceded her in death March 12, 2018.
Cecilia is survived by sons, Tim (Linda) Adkisson of Jackson and Chris (Laurel) Adkisson of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Stephanie Vickery of East Prairie; and brother, Allan (Debra) LaPlante of Marion, Kentucky. Also surviving are two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Ann Marshall.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Adkisson officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Adkisson, Jason Adkisson, Chase Morrow, Jesse Highfil and Jake Wallace.
