Cecil Cleveland Turner, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 20, 1912, in Oran, son of Leslie G. and Daisy R. Terry Turner. He and Opal Jones were married June 16, 1931, in Murphysboro, Ill. She died Jan. 20, 1978.
Turner worked on a tow boat for many years and was later a plant operator for the former Missouri Utilities Co., retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Third Street Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Judith M. Hanebrink of Cape Girardeau and Virginia Harris of Cincinnati, Ohio; one son, Cecil G. Turner of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three great-stepgrandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Joel Hebert officiating. Burial will be at the Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
