Catherine Joann Phillips James, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 15, 1939, in McClure, Illinois, to Dewey and Nadine Phillips Sr.

She retired as an activity director in 2002.

Survivors include a daughter, Shelly James of Cape Girardeau; a son, Timothy James of Santa Barbara, California; five grandsons; two great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Lindsey Cemetery Association for perpetual care.
