SIKESTON -- Carson L. Pitman Jr., 70, of Sikeston died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola, Miss. SIKESTON -- Carson L. Pitman Jr., 70, of Sikeston died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at South Sunflower County Hospital in Indianola, Miss.

He was born July 8, 1928, in Pitman, Ark., son of Carson L. and Maudie Quertermous Pitman Sr.

Pitman was a title one loan officer with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, retiring in 1975.

He was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include three sons, Carson Pitman III, Carl Pitman Sr., Allen Pitman, all of St. Louis; two daughters, Donna Cruise of Virginia, Jane Seabaugh of Holcomb; his father of St. Louis; three brothers, Bob Pitman of Michigan, Bill Pitman of St. Louis, John Pitman of Centerville, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his mother and two brothers.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with Johnny Hester and Pat Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
